DRY VAN: Achieving $8.075 Gross And Extraordinary $2.75 RPM

Week 4th December – 10th December On the 22nd (Monday) January in the late afternoon, one of our carriers hired an owner-operator expected to pick up a load at that time. Our dispatcher excelled in booking and achieving excellent results with the driver from the very beginning, a crucial factor for carriers and owner-operators to establish a positive start to a long-lasting relationship. We won’t be modest and would assert that this individual had a dream start in the new company, being highly content with earning $8,075 on just 2,940 miles (including empty miles). The carrier was equally proud, confident in the results, and anticipated a potential long-lasting collaboration with the new owner-operator in the company. Now, let’s delve into how the driver generated $8,075. Here’s a breakdown of the loads handled during that week: Hammond, IN, to Morehead, KY: Revenue: $1,600 Deadhead: 17 miles Loaded: 374 miles RPM: $4.09 Weight: 12,000 lbs Commodity: Insulation Lesage, WV, to Whitewater, WI: Revenue: $1,300 Deadhead: 77 miles Loaded: 581 miles RPM: $1.98 Weight: 38,500 lbs Commodity: Paint non-haz S Beloit, IL, to O’Fallon, MO: Revenue: $1,500 Deadhead: 36 miles Loaded: 332 miles RPM: $4.07 Weight: 11,123 lbs Commodity: Chips Quincy, IL, to New Concord, OH: Revenue: $1,800 Deadhead: 105 miles Loaded: 562 miles RPM: $2.70 Weight: 40,781 lbs Commodity: FAK Canton, OH, to Kansas City, MO: Revenue: $1,875 Deadhead: 73 miles Loaded: 782 miles RPM: $2.19 Weight: 42,670 lbs Commodity: Food products In addition, it’s noteworthy that 2 out of the total 5 loads in the week were priced at more than $4 per mile, showcasing impressive negotiation skills. Considering that the average rate per mile (RPM) per DAT in the previous week was $2.15, this is a substantial accomplishment. Another positive aspect is that the total RPM he achieved is $2.75, surpassing both the Reefer and flatbed average RPM. Lastly, the driver finished the week in a decent area, having already been assigned a one-day transit load with a revenue of $1,900. However, this information will resurface next week, depending on whether the driver achieves another outstanding result, considering the stiff competition with other drivers.
